Liftoff! Empowered Community Takes Flight, 1st Board Meeting

We're thrilled to share some exciting news! On January 13th, 2024, Empowered Community, Inc. held its first official Board of Directors meeting. This pivotal moment marked the launch of our journey to empower and uplift individuals through a network of supportive programs and resources.

Setting the Stage for Success:

Our meeting kicked off with introductions and team-building, fostering a collaborative environment where everyone's voice could be heard. We then revisited our mission and vision, those guiding principles that ignite our passion and chart our course. With renewed clarity, we delved into the formal aspects of the meeting.


Building a Strong Foundation:

We confirmed the filing of crucial government paperwork, including our Articles of Incorporation and IRS tax-exemption. This ensures our legitimacy and paves the way for financial support.


Leadership and Direction:

The Board elected key officers and directors, entrusting them with the responsibility of guiding Empowered Community's growth. Dave Picozzi assumed the role of President, Laura Jean became Vice President, and Bethany Fairbrother took on the position of Treasurer. Directors included David Boaté, Kaan Esendemir, and Jess Panagia. We are confident in their expertise and dedication to our cause.

Charting the Course:

We unanimously approved vital documents, like our bylaws and conflict of interest statement, establishing a strong ethical framework for our organization. We also established a fundraising committee, tasked with securing resources to fuel our mission. Additionally, we pledged personal donations to kickstart our financial journey.

Moving Forward:

The meeting also saw us approve past transactions and establish a banking relationship for future financial management. We reviewed and assigned corporate email addresses, ensuring smooth communication within the Board.

Looking Ahead:

Our first meeting concluded with the anticipation of future accomplishments. We scheduled our next meeting in February, where we'll delve deeper into strategic planning, operational structure, and fundraising initiatives.
